Judge Joe M. Pirtle - In Memoriam | Judge Joe M. Pirtle, one of the founders of the Texas Municipal Courts Association and charter board member of the Texas Municipal Courts Foundation, sadlly passed away on January 7, 2019. Having been admitted to the Texas state bar in 1971, Judge Pirtle served the city of Seabrook from 1974 through 1977 and again from 1980 until 2011. Judge Pirtle served on the TMCA Board of Directors for 23 years including serving two terms as President. He conceived of and was instrumental in helping to get the Texas Municipal Courts Act of 1983 passed. This Act established funding for training for municipal judges, prosecutors and clerks throughout the state. In recognition of Judge Pirtle's substantial contributions to Texas municipal courts, the Foundation's Board of Directors approved naming an award and a banquet in his honor. Details regarding the banquest and the award will be forthcoming. We extend our condolences to his family. We will miss our friend and colleague, Judge Joe M. Pirtle. |
